Why is it so hard sometimes to “put ourselves out there?” I believe the term “going out on a limb” is another way to say this. It comes down to confidence - confidence in your choice to be as authentic as possible. When it’s become so “hip” in the media and amongst friends to talk down about people, it can be hard to potentially “face ridicule” and do something that may result in unwanted attention.
I know personally that I use “being a perfectionist” as a cover for being afraid to take steps in my life that may cause others to be displeased or disappointed in me. I’m trying not to do that from now on.
That’s all I’ve got on this subject for now!
Kate interviews singer/songwriter Brett Dennen, who shares some insight into his music…
The power that we have within our capabilities to create the reality that we choose is absolutely limitless. The presence band is a reminder of this. In any given moment or experience, we are presented with a choice of how we will live, how we will breathe, how we will affect those around us, how we will respond, how we will BE. There is always a choice, and herein lies the POWER. When we choose the compassionate path, the path towards evolution, the path of love…we are enhancing not only our own lives, but also our community on an infinite level. YOU ARE POWERFUL in every choice you make to grow, expand, and love. Can you imagine a collective effort of individuals who are aware of and present in their personal power for the greater good? I can. So be it, so it is. Live inexclamation!

a little of that “sweep-you-off-your-feet” happiness that i experienced while in thailan
mindfulness:::a practice of present-centered awareness that i do my best to live by. no, it’s not easy- for we become so caught up in and distracted by the stressors of life, especially that which involves the future, that unfortunately the goodness that is wrapped up in each day quickly becomes deflated. it is often times when i am separated from my busy-bodied lifestyle and out traveling that i am able to fully experience the beauty of the present moment. i was recently in thailand, a culture that embodies mindfulness with such grace and intention. i had the opportunity to study traditional thai yoga massage, a practice that involves a great deal of “being present” along with the need for a whole lotta metta- Thai for “loving kindness”. as my practice deepened, my days took on a light, airy, sweep-you-off-your-feet happiness. filled. tuned. balanced. i felt great. my contentment was thick. my gratitude even thicker. i have never felt less burdened by myself or by the world…
i returned home with a big ol’ bundle of new practices and insight, and i am constantly working at reclaiming that present-ness i experienced while in thailand. approaching each day, each moment, each breath with sheer appreciation and heaps of metta- i will strive for this always.
If you want to be something or do something or change something about yourself, that is great, but if you just want to BE and be comfortable with that, that’s cool too. Either way, you have the power!
I took a class today called “BROGA”, a creative title for a men’s a.k.a. “bros” yoga class. I don’t exactly get pumped up for yoga, but I went to check it out and met a couple of cool people. I also saw this guy wearing this bracelet called a “power bracelet” that supposedly gives you balance and strength and helps you perform better. I thought that was kind of cool, but it got me thinking of The Presence Band, the intention of it, and how it differs from other things, and what I came up with is this: we really want to stress that The Presence Band isn’t meant to be some magical object to “make you better”. It’s there to let you know that the power comes from YOU and to hopefully inspire you to realize that the you don’t need anything external to be your best - it’s all there already. If you want to be something or do something or change something about yourself, that is great, but if you just want to BE and be comfortable with that, that’s cool too. Either way, you have the power!
If you want to check out broga or regularstyle yoga with Fran (supercool yoga instructor) and you happen to live in Southern California, check out www.sbbroga.com…Peace!
